An important milestone in JOVITAL project was achieved by establishing five Virtual Innovative Learning LAbs (VILLAs) at the Jordanian partner universities.
The labs equipped with 30 powerful personal computers (PCs) each and a high-speed internet connection are open to all students in the partner universities and offer them easy and stable access to JOVITAL’s Virtual Learning Space, their institutions’ online learning platform, and a variety of digital learning resources and communities (like international MOOCs, libraries, tutorials,…etc.) on the internet.
Jordanian students, E-Tutors, and lecturers can now actively participate in Virtual Collaborative Learning (VCL) courses designed and offered in the project and to be offered in the future. The VILLAs provide them in a quite lab environment with the technical infrastructure, tools, and connectivity needed for effective communication, coordination, and collaboration of their group work in the virtual classroom.

The identically equipped VILLAs at the five campuses form a network of technology-enabled learning spaces is established to bring students and instructors at the partner universities together and allow them to engage in common learning and research collaboration. The focal point in this network is the “Virtual Teaching and Learning Hub (VITAL-HUB)” at Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT) virtually connects the VILLAs and plays a central organisational and knowledge management role for sustainable collaboration between the partners.

The labs can also be perfectly used for Blended Learning, Flipped Classroom, and Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning scenarios that combine personal communication in a physical classroom with self-regulated digital learning activities and interaction with online learning materials.
