The JOVITAL project organises a series of staff training workshops in Jordan, on topics related to the use of ICT in Higher Education and Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) & Virtual Exchange. The first two trainings have been delivered by the International School for Social and Business Studies (ISSBS) at Princess Sumaya University for Technology in Amman, on February 25th 2020, and at Tafila Technical University in Tafila, on February 27th 2020.
The structure of the training of 3 days was as follows:
– 2 days of training/seminar on the topic
– one day for consultations and working in small group with the management or key persons of the partners universities
Each training day started with an introduction by the local Jordanian partner, presenting the project JOVITAL and its achievements. Support for the training was given at PSUT by Prof. Arafat Awajan, Vice-President and Adiy Tweissi, Director of the ELearning center at PSUT, and at TTU by the staff involved in the JOVITAL activities. Trainings were held by Prof. Dr. Dušan Lesjak, active as researcher, teacher and manager for more than 30 years. He is a professor of Management Information Systems (2000) and Management of Education (2010). His areas of expertise are e-business, e-learning and management and financing of higher education. He was a president of the Program Council for the Computerization of Schools, and a member of the Council for Higher Education.
Main purpose of the trainings was to give the participants a general overview on the topics important to foster the use of ICT in higher education, such as digital literacy, impact of e-learning in HE, internationalization of HE enabled by ICT tools, and topics important in the Bologna process. The workshop was also an occasion to discuss with participants the subtopics that are the most relevant in their environment. The participant gained also knowledge that cill reinforce the xooperation within their own university and among Jordanian universities, and also with the international network of the teacher.
